Mobiles

Research done by Duke University proves that teenagers are actively engaged in some kind of media atleast 11 hours a day. As teachers we should utilize this interest in the classroom, by providing ways of study that appeal to the students. If each student were to have a mobile device, paper assignments could eventually be eliminated. Hopefully, the interest in media from the students will spark an inspiration to go mobile. Technology is changing and so is learning styles. We have to embrace future technology for our students learning to be productive.

E-Learning is becoming more prevalent in education today. As defined on The Changing in Teaching and Learning wiki. E-Learing is "the delivery of a learning, training or education program by electronic means. E-learning involves the use of a computer or electronic device (e.g. a mobile phone) in some way to provide training, educational or learning material."

Dell has formulated a new style of laptop especially designed to facilitate new e-learning styles. It will drastically change teaching styles and students' working and learning styles. Check out this video to learn about the new Dell Netbook.

This video gives a prime example of one of the many mobile device available that can be used successfully in a classroom setting. Having a Dell Latitude 2100 Netbook for each student in the classroom enhances the students learnability in many ways. As shown, students can access the internet, work, complete, and turn in assignments, work alongside the teacher during lecture, and many other great classroom features. One cool quality about this mobile device is the fact that is has a feature that will light up on the back of the screen that lets the teacher know if the student is off task. These laptops are made especially for students, they are extra durable to be able to withstand all that the students will put them through. As such an affordable option, these mobile devices should strongly be considered as an option for furthered learning in all classrooms.
