E-Books

In the Classroom

Electronic text is the digital media of a printable text or book. These can be done on computers or hardware devices called e-book readers. How exactly can electronic text, better known as e-books, benefit teacher and students in the class room? This article by Glenn Dietzel gave many advantages to e-books. E-books are interactive and can help students with different disabilities. For example; the student with low vision can change the color of text, background, and size of text to enhance their ability to see the words. Also, the e-book reader has sound capabilities. The teacher can make a sound file so the student can play back a certain text. One of the most usefull capabilities is that it is portable like a DVD. This is just scratching the surface of what all the e-book and e-book reader can do for a class room. E-books are even good for the environment, saving trees and keeping landfills cleaner. What is the best way to find e-books? There are many different places online you can find e-books. An example of a good website is Project Gutenberg. Some even suggest E-bay as a good place.
