Even though the technology in our schools today is very efficient in enhancing learning for students, some teachers still refuse to get involved with the new means andThe Nature of technology. Some teachers are impatient with the material they have to learn becuase of the time well spent to get familiar with the equiptment. In today's classrooms, it seems that most of the students know a great deal more about technology than teachers. The way children learn today is changing, and it is important that we, as teachers, keep up with those changes. However, sometimes we are reluctant to utilize the up-and-coming technology in our classrooms. Here are a few of the most common misconceptions that teachers have about technology in the classroom. Time
One of the biggest misconceptions teachers have when trying to incoporate technology into their classroom is that they don't have enough time to teach every student how to use a specific program. However, what teachers fail to realize is that once the program is taught to students, the learning process happens much faster. Students minds think faster than most teachers so it makes the classroom process go at a quicker pace. Also, students today have many different learning styles. When incorporating technology in the classroom, it is easier to reach the students with different learning styles.
Not a Computer Person
A very common excuse for teachers not using technology in their classrooms is because they feel like they are not familiar enough with computers and their programs. However, whether or not we teachers like the new technology, we live in a digital generation where students are constantly learning and using new technologies. So, what can we do to enhance our technological abilities? Many schools offer technology programs and seminars where you can increasingly grow familiar with technology. Yes, we may think a pencil and paper works just fine; however, for students in today's society, it's important to utilize technology in our classrooms to be sure we maximize student learning.
