Virtual classrooms are where teachers and students can work together to communicate about assignments and projects at the same time to reach a common goal.    A collaborative website comprises the perpetual collective work of many authors.  Similiar to a blog in structure and logic, a wiki allows anyone to edit, delete or modify content that has been placed on the website.  The collaborative website allows the teacher to collaborate with other classrooms in other states or countries.

Pageflakes is a web page builder similar to iGoogle.  A widget or flake as it is called for Pageflakes is a portable chunk of code.  Weather, flight arrival information or stock market results are examples of different flakes.   A Pageflake is a form of a collaborative web.  This type of web page could be used to collaborate information with other schools who are working on similar projects.  This video describes what a Pageflake does and how it can be set up.

This website has some great quick start projects that are made for collaboration with other schools.  You type in the website, then go section C  Making On-line projects.  Go through the steps to either make your own on-line project or select from the list of quickstart projects.  The quickstart projects are a list of projects that any teacher can sign up for and use with their classroom.
