New Trend
One of the latest emerging technologies for the classroom is the remote control, not for the television, but for taking tests! One fourth grade class in Iowa has already begun using these gadgets and the kids love them! One student said, “It’s more fun! I don’t have to write and my hand doesn’t get tired.”

How Does it Work?
These controls are part of the Classroom Performance System (CPS). Each student has a control and there is an electronic screen in front of the classroom with the test questions appearing on it. When a question appears, each student is to key in their response.Watch this video to see it in action!
Advantages:
· Kids love it! The technology keeps the classroom more interactive and enjoyable for students.
· Educational games are also available for extra learning during free time.
· Some teachers think CPS makes grading more efficient.
o Computer keeps track of students’ answers and prints out their grade
o Reports questions that majority of the class found difficult
Disadvantages:
- It is possible that the control makes it easier for students to cheat off of each other.
- Some believe that writing skils will decrease if we rely too much on techonology
