Technical Issues: Software

From Wikitechbook--the student-developed, technology textbook

Welcome to the page of technology software. This page was designed to help teachers understand and find different softwares that are available to them.  Included in this page are sources that are related to this topic such as a video, a blog site, and an article explaining some of these issues.

Programs

There are certain software programs that are valuable to teachers in today's schools.  The application of these programs enable teachers to be more effective in their classrooms. Each program allows for different ways to create and organize information.  Some of these programs are as follow:

  • Word-word processing
  • Power Point-slide shows
  • Excel-spread sheets
  • Cameras-photo editing
  • Finale-music composition
  • Podcast-audio files
  • E-mail-electronic communication
  • Smart Notebook-interactive presentations
  • Expressions Web-web page design

Classrooms Without Software

Students that are in classrooms with less techonology are sometimes behind compared to students from other schools.  This is due to the fact that these students would not have access to resources that students from more technologically advanced schools would have.  These defieciencies make students rely on their textbooks and other books that they can find in the library, thus putting more strain on teachers, school staff, and the physical plant.  To alleviate such problems, teachers should be well versed in grant writing and be able to compose coherent documents requesting additional financial support from the government.

Quick Reminder!

Accessing software is not as tedious as it may seem. In fact there are several resources out on the web that are here to make teacher's lives' far more easier. I highly recommend this free resource website.
