Web 2.0 is not a different version of the current Internet technology but rather it describes the way users can interact with a website. Web 2.0 sites provide their users with an interactive platform so they can edit the content that appears. It takes the web from being a passive experience to one of active participation. Examples of Web 2.0 sites include social-networking sites, wikis, and blogs.
How can Web 2.0 be used in the Classroom?
Direct Application:
Classroom blogs- who wants to write on paper when you can publish it on the internet for anyone to read!
An example of how to use a wiki would be in a high school general music class the teacher creates a textbook about the different musical eras. It is up to the students to add and subtract information on the various traits and composers of that time.
