Wiki Rationale
From Wikitechbook--the student-developed, technology textbook

Social computing and folksomony is a viable way to develop and maintain collaborative, student-written material that covers course content. Through the use of a wiki, this student-developed material can be corrected, updated, enhanced, and improved by students each semester and even replace the standard textbook.

Developing a wiki textbook

Each semester, the wiki textbook becomes the starting place for course material. New students hear the voice of past students as they explore what has already been created. Working in the wiki gives students an authentic purpose for reading, editing, researching, and writing about the course content. It also becomes a springboard for multimedia presentations
