Social Computing and networking are two phrases that are related. Social computing is just using technology to create social cirles and communicate. Social networking is an actual grouping of people, whether in the real world, or on a computin device. "Traditional" social networking is usually a webpage that others are able to see and communicate with you through. Some examples are Facebook, MySpace, FriendFinder, and Yahoo! 360.

Social networking can provide you with many opportunities. It gives you a chance to connect with people you may have never known otherwise. You can connect to people all over the world, whether you are looking for a job, a house, or a new car. Everything is pretty much available to you at your fingertips if you are willing to look for it. Social networking gives you opportunities you never would have had otherwise.
